Absolute Poker - As I continue to look for the best in online poker gaming, my search has
brought me to Absolutepoker.com. Good thing too, because despite not being
the most well known site on the web, the team at Absolute Poker has put together a
very nice website that rivals the industry standard. First thing a visitor
will notice to Absolute’s homepage is the extensive menu, and lack of pop
ups. Lots of banners are in place advertising the many promotions, but it’s
not too terribly bad or difficult to navigate. It’s obvious this site has a
lot going on, and the modern attractive look is very appealing to the eyes.
Everything is sensibly laid out, and easy to find, including schedules,
rakes, and even a section for player rankings. After the usually quick
software download and install, I’m off to the lobby. Absolute has a simple
registration process, and upon completion, you are in the lobby with a
reasonably good selection of tables. All the big games are available, and
there is a respectably large population in most games in both real money and
for fun stakes. The tournament section is also quite active, and there is
the option of heads-up tournaments, a cool feature that isn’t found at some
other sites. Once you’re up and running, the gameplay is very nice.
Graphics are very clean and easy to look at, and the screen layout is nice.
Games move fairly quickly, and the only minor glitch I noticed in the
gameplay was the occasional disconnection, however that may have been a
problem with my network. The look is nice, and there seems to be plenty of
action at all types of tables. I would have liked a history feature, but
that’s nitpicking because the rest of the play and action looks and works
very well. The promotions on this site are definitely up to par; there is
an abundance of tournaments available, and freerolls are offered without any
player requirements, allowing players to enter without having been required
to play real money hands. The Players section on the homepage is also very
useful with tips, reviews, links, and news from the poker world. Absolute
Poker also offers a newsletter available by email so you can keep up to date
with the goings-on of the site and the poker world in general.
So what’s the final word? Overall, I was quite impressed with Absolute
Poker! It’s a very nice site with lots of features and a great look, but it
also delivers with a good tournament structure and a large player
population, making it a great destination for any poker fan.
