A lot of the bars in the Denver area host NL Hold 'Em tourneys. There is no entry fee (therefore, no consideration), but the D.A. is still leaning on the games, trying to get them stopped. According to the D.A., because the bars are getting residual sales from the poker tourneys, they are profiting from gambling. However, the law seems to state otherwise.
That said, they did shut down a ring of games a few months ago, back room games at clubs run by Asian owners. (That's not a racial slur, just a fact of the story; no Asians were harmed in the writing of this post.) |
