How much did the other guy have. You didnt have the pot odds to make your flush but if you where pretty sure you could get alot of chips out of the guy and he was pretty deep then you had the implied odds to make the call.
Since you were the chip leader I would have raised him on the flop to try to take the pot right there, and if he called you still have your dimond draw.
