I think it's kind of ironic that a major reason people go out near the bubble is that they aim just to make the bubble by playing conservatively. This has two effects. One is putting you in a position where you pretty much have to win any hand you play because if you're not maintaining or growing your stack by stealing blinds. The other is that even when you do make the bubble, you've usually given up chips to do so, and with your reduced stack, you have less chance of going deep where the prize amounts get much larger. |
