Tourneys with rebuys cater to the host....... especially, if like now, they take a percentage of the prize pool, instead of an entry fee.. they also cater to those who have money to toss away....
It is the second reason I do not play them.. I do not have money to throw away... I would be too tempted to rebuy, and then perhaps rebuy again...
With that said.. rebuys are better than freezeouts(standard), if certain situations occur..
For instance, a tourney with a buy in of $1.00, with multiple rebuys, might as well be 5 or 10 dollar freezeout... the prize pool increases each time a rebuy occurs...
You also will many more entrants in the low buy in tourneys.. as much as a low buyin freezeout, perhaps... and when the rebuys start rolling in, your getting potentionally more for your buck, than if you were in a freeze out...
One thing I did not see mentioned... usually, you have to have eithre busted out, or be below a certain chip count, by a certain time, before you can rebuy...... this is advantageous to YOU.. YOU don't want to have to rebuy... if you bust of of these afore mentioned people out...BOOM, there is your rebuy.. for free.... since you do not want to have to rebuy, your only playing heads up poker and staying away from ALL IN's
unless you have seen the flop.
At any given table, at any given time, someone is going to do something to irk someone... the fact that the tourney has a rebuy option, does not change this.... all you have to do, is play smart, and you will most likely end up with 2 or 3 rebuys, for a cost of zero....
Always take advantage of the add on tho.....
