I'm not sure how much you should take to Tunica, but I can tell you this. My wife and I went to Cripple Creek for our anniversary. We wanted to play in the Midnight Rose Poker Room, and the buy-in for their Sunday tournament was only $50 each. However, when we got there, we found out that players who had been playing in ring games had preferential seating, and that only 66 players were allowed in the tournament.
According to the room boss, the place usually had enough people playing ring games to fill the tournament, and we didn't feel like we had enough money to sit in a ring game for three hours before paying the entry fee to the tournament, so we left. I still want to play there, but next time, I will take at least $150 that I'm willing to spend in ring games in addition to the tournament entry fee.
