The only danger in this strategy is that someone at the table will figure out what you're up to, and when they have the cards to do it, will go up against you in a big way.
I've played mini-tourneys where the players at the table were afraid of me, and it was like shooting fish in a barrel! Even a minimum bet on my part was making everyone fold. I couldn't believe it! I was stunned, but I kept being aggressive and they kept running away. But it really is rare, I find, that you can control a table to that extent, without having the cards to back it up.
