Another way to look at it would be 4 to 1 against winning. Out of a total of 5 chances, you only have one chance to win. The 20% comes from the fact that there are a total of 5 chances, and only 1 is a possible winner. 4 are not, hence 4 to 1 against.

In this case, the total odds are 7, with only two chances to win. 2/7*100= 28.57% chance of winning.
