I agree completely that the first part of large open freerolls tends to produce ridiculous play. The worst I can remember is six people out of 10 going all in on the first or second hand. Not just that, but the only pair was deuces, and none of the other five even had an A; the next best after the 22 was KT.

I do agree that these tournaments can take a long time. I haven't been there in at least a month, but Everest Poker used to have continuous limit holdem SNGs. Only pennies for the winners, but even that is more than play money chips.
