Cincinnati Poker Anyone ever played this game?
I have heard that this was a big riverboat game at the turn of the century that Texas Hold'Em is based on. It plays a lot like Texas Hold'Em but instead of 2 down cards, you get 5. The dealer deals five table cards (as in Hold 'Em) but instead of 4 rounds of betting (pre-flop, flop, turn and river), there are six (pre-flop and one as each of the cards are turned over).
The trick was that because you make a hand with any 5 cards, the hands that win are BIG hands. Full Houses and Four of a Kind are easy to make because of all the cards. This suckered a lot of naive riverboat travellers who were used to the hand probablilites of regular poker and made it a mainstay of the riverboat gambling pros from the last century.
My question is this. Is this game offered anywhere? It sounds like a game like Razz...meaning you would see it at a card room in the back, but nobody but some pros would be playing it waiting on a newbie to sit down at the tabl to fleece. Anyone seen it?
