Default Go with the Classic - Cincinnati Kid

The Cincinnati Kid is the classic of all poker movies. The film is pretty old and the VHS copy I saw was a little warped, but it kind of gives you an idea of the types of places and lifestyle that Doyle Brunson and Amarillo Slim talk about living in the time before the corporate casino poker rooms took over and provided a fair game. The movie takes place in the seedy area of New Orleans.

I know this was a book too and was wondering if anyone read it? I always wondered whether 'The Kid' was from Cincinnati or whether he maybe got that name from playing Cincinnati Poker. His girlfriend calls him "The Three Rivers Wonder" which is Pittsburgh, not Cincinnati. The guy I watched the movie with told me he got the name from the poker game.

Just a bit of trivia. I didnt think there was a game called Cincinnati, but I stumbled upon it in one of the first poker books I read, so I was surprised to find it really exists, and like I posted in another forum, its kind of an insiders game.

Anyone read the book and know for sure?
