Actually... They say that "instinct" or "premonition" is actually your brain's subconscious trying to tell you something. If that sounds strange or weird, it's not!
It's like this... we only use 10% of our brains, right? Well, the other 90% isn't dead, it's just not wired right to be used the way we use the busiest part of our brain. But it's there, storing information and maybe observing. Studies have shown that people's first instincts, in many cases, actually ARE right (not just an urban legend), and some scientists attribute this to instinct being "that" part of the brain's way of sending us information. IE, that we're not used to thinking with it, so it's not as clear as what we do with our id/ego/etc, the usual suspects of our brain. The rationale is that the human brain is capable of storing and processing a vast amount of information, and but that sometimes the only way we are able to use that information is through instinct.
So, as others have said, maybe something about the cards (you've seen them before, you've seen hands before, your brain told you that A6 does well), something about the people (their posture, facial expressions, mannerisms, method of throwing their chips in, etc), something told your brain from experience that the A6 would do well, and it did.
I think people underestimate instinct because it's not easy to understand, but I think there's something to it! Follow your instincts! Unless you're on tilt! |
