I found precisely the same thing, that everyone wants some action and so everyone sees the flop and too many follow through to the river, resulting in a large number of bad beats and a higher than normal variance. That would be all well and good because we all learned in poker school that bad beats are good for us in the long run, but at $5 buy-in for NL it would take a long time to turn that variance around and make it worthwhile!

Still, it's cool that it's there. Thanks for bringing it up!
