Most bonuses rely on a certain level of rake being taken out of hands, usually 25 cents. The lowest level that will "earn" that sort of rake on a regular basis is .50/1, and even then you're not guaranteed to hit the rake. If you get four or five players to a flop, though, it's almost a lock that the hands will be raked. Competition at .50/1 isn't really any different than the smaller games, though, so if you have $50 to deposit you might consider taking a shot at it.
