For the person that said Dutch Boyd, you might want to look a bit more into the guy.
He is obviously very bright and put on a great show in 2003. He's also obviously very troubled by bipolar disorder (which is a very, very tough illness).
There's more to him, however. He was involved in an early online poker company that ended up going belly up (because Paradise and Planet Poker were launched and were just better). When it went belly up, no one was able to withdraw their funds. He blamed the inablity fo peole to withdraw on some financial intermediary, but it sounded like a pretty weak excuse to many. There are many that believe he took the money for himself.
There's also a deal with "The Crew" (lamest name in poker for any group...). He had a falling out with longtime friend Brett Jungblutt (Gank, who btw is a bracelet winner) over misuse of their shared bankroll.
If you read 2plus2, Greg Raymer views Boyd as very shady and he's a very reasonable guy, I assure you.
Anyway, sorry to burst any bubble you had related to the guy, but I thought you might want to know. You tell many people in the poker world you're a big fan of the guy and they will probably wonder how up you are about the poker world (I'm not super up on it at all, this was just so big it's hard to miss) and probably about your ethical standards as well.
There's a bit to suggest that Boyd isn't just troubled, that he's probably a bit of a scumbag. |
