A lot of what we attribute to "gut feeling" is actually an unconscious reaction based on our previous experiences. For instance, you raise and then get re-raised...you feel like you just "know" your opponent has Aces. You end up being right, and are glad you "trusted your gut". That feeling comes from so many other times you've been in the same situation, and your opponent had Aces. You just don't recall those 10-20 specific times because they've faded into the background of all the 10000+ hands you've played.

A little something to keep in mind when you're thinking about second-guessing your gut feelings...
