i have a fair amount of experience in online sit n gos, usually 5 + .50. it has been my experience that there will usually be two or three loose aggresive players who will be splashing around early. if you take the risk and attempt to capitalize on one of these players after you have identified them, you can double up early and then attempt to leverage the stronger more conservative players at that point. that being said, my dominant strategy is to wait for premium hands because it seems that 9 out of 10 times you will get action with them as long as you dont overbet them. once you have been called down a couple times and turned up premium hands that you have played strongly, you have set the foundation for creating the illusion of strength with preflop raises, when i do this and isolate heads up, i usually like to bet no matter what on the flop, a little risky i know, but this is after you have hopefully created a strong table image, and if you get reraised it shouldnt be hard to let go if you have nothing, if you get just called, at this point the hand becomes more complicated and you have to analyze your options and opponents before you decide to act on the turn. if its a decent possiblity that your opoponent was drawing with his/her call and you can get a decent read on this, i like to bet the pot on the turn if i have a adecent stack, so that it is mathematically unprofitable for them to call on the turn. if the flop was something like 2 7 A and you get called on the flop, chances are your up against aces or a pocket pair between 7 and a and you should probsaly slow up. |
