I only play rags at the obvious positions SB and BB. In the past I used to play suited rags and connectors out of position. BUT then got outkicked or ran into higher straights/flushes and got SPANKED on several occasions. I play the better quality cards now.
Another problem is getting two pair with rags. IE. starting with 8-3 and flopping K-8-3. If the board gets paired up (ie. 9s), then the 3's are now useless.
