Default Slowplayin?

Does it pay off for you more often thatn not...or does it wind up biting you in the butt when they suck out a 4 card flush with the 2 of diamonds?

I'd say from my experience that you should only slowplay the nuts. If you don't have the nuts, you shouldn't be slow playing. There is always a chance for BS cards later and all you have to do to avoid the BS is take down the pot. Also with all the fish out there, people will call you with nothing sometimes anyway.

I'd be interested to know what kind of hands you are talking about slow playing.

I agree, sometimes slow playing trips can give your opponent a chance to develope a straight or flush. Especially against more than one opponent. I've learned my lesson (a few times).

i dont know now i slow play alot and let other peole do the betting and usually take them down i guess it depends on the situation depends on my mood cause like you say people will call just about anything anymore and get lucky on the river why waste your chips if they are going to call ya all the way down then your just out that much more. the problem with poker is that everyone thinks they always have to push push push.then when the other player does hit your commited to the hand and if they all-in you stuck.
WHAT NOW

Default should i have waited

tell me how you would have played this hand.
I was BB, blinds were 1k, 4 people limped in me as 1 of them it was me(BB) 1st pos. 2nd pos. and SB i had 31k 1st has 17k 2nd had 72k and SB had 20k i was delt 23H didnt want to play this hand but was BB so figured what the hell, everyone limped so i just checked.
Here comes the flop 2c 3s 2s gave me the boat so i just checked 1st checked 2nd bet 4k everyone called 2nd pos. bet and i slow called at that!
The turn is 7d i check 1st checks and 2nd once again bet 4k Sb calles fast so i all-in on the turn 1st calles me 2nd of course folds he was the pusher Sb folds and i show em my boat and rake it in.
My question is do you think i could have got the 2nd pos. to call my all-in if i waited till the river? i think i could have squeezed more out of all 4 before i went all-in kinda just got to happy too fast i think and may have jumped too soon.

I have to agree with BSGutshot on this one. Only slowplay if you hit the nuts. In alot of cases if you flop trips a flush draw comes out on the river and you get put to the test against someone whos been chasing all day. Or if you hit bottom 2 pair a higher pair comes on the board. Things like this happen consitently so I say only slowplay the nut flush or straight or boat on the flop. Otherwise make some sort of bet to put out draws atleast.
