Thats possibly the funniest story I have heard involving school and Poker...Nice one Astros....

I started out one day, I was sick as a dog from work, and was just bored. So I surfed onto Partypoker.com...and from then on I was hooked. since then I have ditched Partypoker and moved onto Titan, Fulltilt, CDpoker, and Noble...all of which I play regularly...

First i must say:
I play poker mainly for the fun and if there is money involved, so be it. I can't play any sports anymore so if it wasn't for poker i would just be working all the time or drinking like a mad man.

Default It's Wil's fault!

I started playing because I'm a regular reader of Wil Wheaton's blog. (Being a computer geek and RPGer, that's kind of a requirement for me.) He would occasionally post cryptic messages about poker games, and I didn't understand what he was saying. Sure, I had played poker, but I didn't have enough of a handle on Hold 'Em to understand. So, I did some research, bought a Hold 'Em game for my Treo, and proceeded to get my butt kicked by little cartoons on a two-inch screen.

Then I hit the books and the websites, and learned more about what I was doing. I signed up for an online account and started playing, and the bug bit me. I had no idea that I would enjoy Hold 'Em so much, or that I would do as well as I did. I guess my inherent patience finally paid off on something.

Occasionally. Not a lot of them, because the timing usually isn't good for me. But I have played in them. The last time, I played the whole game on the same table as Wil, and beat him by two positions. He couldn't have been on his best game, though, because he was playing in a coffee shop due to connectivity problems at home.

Default tv

I was watching TV and a commerical came on advertising party poker, so i downloaded that , and later i came to realize there are hundreds of different poker sites online, so i found titan poker which is probably my favorite, and absolute poker. And I absolutely loved them so i deleted them and started downloading about 5 of my fav sites. Poker is such a fun game, especially when you're bored, or just getting off work, good to just relax and play some holdem. Their isn't nothing like it, to tell the truth. The excitement of looking at your pockets and seeing American Airlines, King Kong, Ladies, Fish Hooks. That is excitement right there, and that is what poker is all about. Thanks and God bless you all. Good luck and see ya at the tables.

My son started playing online at Party Poker 3 years ago and told me about so one night when I was drunk I thought that I would give it a try. That night didn't work out too well but it was fun but I lost a couple hundred bucks playing SNG,s . I quit but then I started playing penny poker at UB and after that I found out about freerolls. Poker is a hobby for me to play in my retirement so they are an ideal way for me to kill some time.

It was about 3 years ago... it a galazy far far away...

I was alway a poker player. I had played quite a bit of live holdem and happened to get a flyer at some local poker tournament. Eventually a friend and I signed up for the room and started playing. I made an initial deposit and was off and running and I was hooked. No longer did I need to travel to the local riverboat to play if I was lucky. I could play anytime and I was happy. Wife not so happy but that is another story.....

lets see, I was over a friends and he was showing me how he played online play money poker. I was like thats pretty pointless, we should have a 40-50 dollar buy-in type thing sometime. We had one and I ended up winning. I took $25 from the winnings and funded my Online Poker BR on PokerStars. I obviously lost it rather quickly lol. Since then I've gotten much better and recently turned a $25 deposit on PS into 890 and bought myself this laptop im typing you from.

I love it because its not gambling, the cream of the crop rise to the top in poker.

Default my history

I have been playing poker "seriously" since february 2006.
I am familiar with poker since childhood, but never tried or knew of texas holdem before january.
I was inspired by my friend who has played little over a year, and in jan uary was making 50usd per day on average.
with his guidance I have been learning, never invested any of my own money, made some small winnings in freerolls, and have been using that.
My friend has slowly increased his daily target, and made 20000 usd last month.
his story inspires and keeps me up at nights glued to the screen.
We both reside in thailand, so making 50usd a day is something that one could even live on here.
I find it hair raising (and great) that there is a chance for anyone with an internet connection to in theory anyway, make a living without contributing to the world in anyway really.
