Default Are poker rooms really "rigged"?

I see people talking about poker rooms like titan being rigged. Is this really true? Whats making people say this? I hear about bad beats and see them on TV a lot why is a bad beat in a poker room online any different?

Some sites (ie. Prima) do seem to deal a lot of above average hands (boats and quads) when compared to Party Poker or Titan. It's weird and frustrating to see one or two players dominate a table with great cards. That's my own personal observation. As long as I'm winning in the long run, I'll keep playing.

I have said this before and will say again... I dont think sites are rigged

it would not be in there best interest in the long run to be rigged ...they have no vested interest in anything other then getting the rake so the more people that play the more money they make..the outcome itself is immaterial.

Having said that I will also add I dont think that random number gnerators are all that random....If you have the time and the understanding of how sriters use code to write software and most often use the same writers to check the code then you would know that most software has a personality written into the software that is a mirror of the writers style and the way they were taught to write, And if you can catch on to the subtle nuance of the style then you have added a few points to your advatage due to a certain predictibility.

So rigged no....random...no...is there cheating software...well thats another post...

actually thats not completly true there are independent groups that can investigate and verify if a poker site is legit i think there have only been two to do so i think one is poker stars but if a poker room was to be "rigged" then people would know because lets say a certain draw is known to catch 33% and that is a cold hard fact and someone has 10,000 hands of data and its not even close to that percentage i.e. +-5% then the site could be messed up. I suggest if you really dont trust a site then get something like pokertracker get a lot of data and check it out for yourself.

I have noticed that on "certain" poker rooms, the cards seem to reward people for playing good cards...but hashed out on others that play rags...but those seem to be the people that catch...so who knows....LOL

actually I dont think they are rigged ...what a I said was the software writers put the style and personality into the software and if your savvy enough to figure out what that is then you have an edge....I have no doubt that the software meets the parameters of the people who verify, but that doesnt mean that the software is without its flaws....

NO, if a poker site was rigged and someone found out in some way the site would be giving out so much money they would be in debt for 100 lifetimes. That is the exact reason no site would rig anything. The chance of being caught is exactly why I know that no site is rigged. You see some interesting played out hands, but that is poker. Watch poker on tv and you will see the same stuff happens to them. Players catch so much garbage. Also too, there are so many bad online poker players that your going to see more bad beats. These guys call with nothing all the way to the river.

Im with Hayden on this one. Its not in the poker rooms interests to rig anything especially in a $50 freeroll. Why would they waste the time and turn off customers... However, I do believe that the integrity of the RNG (random number generators) is suspect. Either the algorithm is flawed or there are defects in it. In other words its "juiced". I have heard that pokerstars and believe it or not the Playtechs are the most honest of the sites. They run audits regularly of the RNG.

Yesterday my sweetie had quad twos beat by a str8 flush on AP. What are the odds of that. How often do you see either hand in a day let alone the same hand. He is constantly getting bad beats with the best hand on that site. I jokingly said it was because he withdrew all his winnngs from AP a while back now. I constantly see the worst hand being paid off. Ive also noticed that QQ hits a set on the river to take out AA a lot of times. Ive given and received.

I am involved as an investor in a Capital startup group with the internet and trust me when I tell you that its not that random....is it predictable, not really, but totally random ...no ...I always thought it was until I met some of the real software guru's and I am not talking about some customer support guy or some security tech geek at a company but the guys who actually write code from the ground up....they are the guys who know and they have told me more then once that the sites are honest and unpredictable to a point but it would be almost impossible to write totally random software. I am sticking by my guns on this one as these guys are way beyond any puter geeks I have ever met...they make me feel like plankton.
