Default Home tourny, music while playing?

I have played at several home tournaments, and all seem to have different rules as to what they are listening to. One tournament was absolutely no music, another was hard rock louder then crap, and another was something soft like yanni or some crap.

What is the general rule (if there is one), and what do you all prefer? Me personally, I kinda liked the no music route.

Just curious

We have talked about this in another thread before. Like I said there my preference is either no music or some kind of rock. I liked to watch baseball or another sport on tv while playing. It's deffinately the way to go IMO.

We tried watching a football game one time, and it didn't turn out that great. It seemed like no one was paying attention to the play. Then again it was a big game for some of the players, so what can you expect... ha.

I've hosted a couple of home games for low stakes. I'll put on a contemporary radio station as background noise. It's more fun to play the hands, drink beer, snack and kibbitz.

I've yet to venture out into someone else's game. In the live Poker rooms, I like them quiet (without music or slot machines) and smoke free. Drinking while playing in a Poker Room is a no-no for me, because it is hard enough to win money SOBER.

That's the only problem. Sometime nobody is interested in the poker game and they play poorly. That makes for a bad poker game, but heres another tip. Get drunk before you play and you'll always play well. At least you will think your on top of the world.

I our home games we usually have the music blasting and the TV on, so not to many people are paying attention to the game. But what I dont like is when one of my friends has these huge headphone (the noise canceling kind) that he likes to listen to when he plays. He really cant hear anything and is usually slowing the game down, and then sometimes he starts singing along with his music. (He really isnt a very good singer) That when I have to start really taking his chips to make him shut up.

I listen to music a lot whiole playing. Music or I have the TV on. If there's some kind of sporting event I am interested in, I listen to that, but otherwise I usually have some classic rock or metal on. It seems to help me play better rather than playing in silence.

I dont play a home game but a casino I play occasionally has a big screen with sports in all directions ....I enjoy this as I like to distract my mind at times.

I listen to my IPOD when i play all the time. It helps to keep me focus and thats just my personal perference. I don't like watching tv when i play poker because that does the complete opposite then music it distracts me. The last thing i want do when playing poker is get myself distracted but w/e floats your boat not my money that is potientally being lost.
