finding 12 cent lying around in my doyle's room account, i felt this was the day that i finally take a challenge at the most skilled sitngo game that is the 10c+1 buy-in 6-max SNG offered only at those Tribeca networks sites.
after all, a great poker player should be able to prove that he can beat any level of game in existance.
while the huge first place sum of 39cent may not compare to BBPs lucky Bingo winnings of $200, i felt that a hard earned first place prize of $0.39 would give me a nice round figure of 40cents, just 10 cent short of becoming the greatest rapper. (i'm sorry, poker player)
i set out for the win, and to win, you must show aggression.
after observing the first few hands at the table, i was shocked at the standards of play at this stakes. This is the poker i was seeing:
call-call-call-fold(me)-complete-check-flop-check-check-minbet-fold-call-fold-fold-turn-minbet-call-river-minbet-call.
showdown: flat caller shows a busted flush draw that hit bottom pair on the river.
with so much weak passive play, i figured my aggression strategy would do the trick to win it. to show ultimate aggression, i decided to play the best game of poker: all-in or fold.
to add a little twist: all-in and fold big hands.
the idea is simple, push all in with any two cards, but fold pocket pairs and any ace.
now the action was more like this:
call-call-Allin(me)-foldx5
call-allin-foldx5,
occasionally: call -call-call fold(me)-complete-check.
not a single raise preflop besides my allin, to which about 90% of the time it was folded around.
soon i push with 35o, only to come around to the small blind who calls me with the massive hand that is..... A2o!
i turn a trey and knock the poor dude out.
allin, allin allin all. after about 3 hands i finally get called again.
my 94o is up against: QJo!, nicely the flop cons 99T. i safely dodge the danger cards and knock another guy out.
down to 4, and i push all in very next hand with 34s. Insta call!, he shows 55.
oh dear, but no worries! i hit running 3s and win.
on the buble, with a massive chipstack. the bubble is the best time be aggressive, so undoubtedly, i was ready to push all in.
but no, wait! i pick up Kings from the SB, the button flatcalls and i safely fold my kings.
then after a few all ins, my K8s gets called by.... Q10! i'm ahead!
my king high holds up and down to two.
all in, all in,

, insta call. he has:

,
flop:

turn:

river:
and i take down the tourney!
hard earned 39cent and i am the champion.
a few lessons i learned from the game today:
1. playing short handed, don't limp every hand and fold to a raise. raise atleast once before you get knocked out. aggression is the key
2. when u face a raise, despite from a maniac, don't call with A2. the best you can wish for is to be 60% ahead.
also, don't call with QJo, all u have is Q high!,
3. don't call with 55, low pocket pair, what are you going to wish your opponent has!?, never call an all in with low pocket pair. most of the time the best ucan wish for is 50/50,other times your opponents overpair will have u crushed. (on very rare occasions ur 55 might be good against.. say... 34s)
if anyone can win a sitngo in less than 8 mins, i will give you half my winnings: 20cent
