Default Multi Tabling

don't know if this post would be better suited in the zoo, but I'll run it here first:

Ever since Party introduced resizable tables, I've enjoyed being able to 7-9 table. Previously, like most people, I had only been able to 4-table without overlap. Onto my main point...

Do any of you who 8-table with Party's resizable screens still use PT/PA HUD while playing? I've encountered 3 main issues with this:

1) Lags my system pretty badly and I have 2 GB of RAM (so I'm guessing this might be a processor issue).

2) The text is pretty small (for PA HUD), and while I can still read it, it's a stretch.

3) I generally will 8-table 6-max games, and really don't have the time to interpret/read player stats while making decisions on 8 tables.

Am I taking the wrong approach? How do you guys handle this situation (those of you who have encountered it or something similar)? FWIW, when I don't have PAHUD open, I can 8-table 6max games just fine. I just don't want to give up the edge of player "reads" that the stats generally help out with, if I don't have to.

Thanks, I appreciate any input.

I am glad to hear Party has made it easier to play more tables. It is one thing I have really enjoyed about the prima sites. I don't need all the graphics just the important information. I wish more sites would do this as well as it makes it easier to play and there is less chance of going "all-in" or "folding" when one screen overlaps another.

8 tables?!?!? How can you keep track of whats going on in 8 different tables? I have enough trouble keeping notes/picking up tells of oppenents in one table. Everyone once in awhile I'll play in 2 games at the same time and I usually end up going all in with 3-8 in one table and folding AA in the other.

Though one day I was able to make the final table at a $5 MTT and make the final table of the $100 million dollar freeroll qualifer at CD Poker, but that was tough and I have tried to stick to one table since then.

I also haven't played at Party much so maybe its easier on that site. I remember reading about ZeeJustin playing 12 SNG at once, but then again he might have just been playing in 6 games with 2 accounts knowing him. Either way it would be too much for me to keep track of and my computer couldn't handle it.

I think that 8 tables is a little much. I usually play 2 tables at a time and sometimes I will play 3. I would think that after you get past 4 or 5 tables it would be harder to keep up with the action. If I were you I would cut it down to 4 or 5 and then you will still get a lot of action but your profit might rise a little because it would be easier to keep up with the tables.

I played 8 tables on Poker.com.
It's not so hard if you have a good computer. Their site is well construct to hold 8 tables.
It's hard to follow and tryed to read other players cards.
The advantage is that you will only have time to play the bigger cards (especcially pocket pairs).
It's just like you are siting out and enter only when you have AA, KK, and QQ.

The most tables I have played is 4 and I was in 4 tournaments at the time, but even that was difficult. A lot of clicking and a lot of fast play. No a lot of time to make reads. I don't think I played very well too.

The only site i can play more then 4 tables at once is Poker.com . I played 8.
That is because his software (which is very good) and because the game is very slow.

Playing 8 tables is actually not that uncommon. Most online "pros" or other serious online players will play that amount at a minimum. I have a friend who usually plays 15-20 at a time. The reason for playing so many is that it boosts your per hour win rate. You're clearing out what would be a days worth of SnGs (if you were to play them individually) in the time it takes to play one. For someone who is playing to make their income, that's a huge advantage.

What most people do, and something you might want to consider, spresso, is to "stack" the tables. Most sites will force the table requring action to the forefront, so you can open up as many SnGs, tables, etc. as you want and then "stack" the windows on top of each other. As your action is needed on a table, it pops up to the front.

Yes, it's hard (but not impossible) to get a read on the other players when you play this way. But most people who multi-table like this are using some sort of tracking software (like spresso is) and can go thru the hands afterwards, and make their player notes then. Then you import them to the site and they're always where you want them. Also remember that having a read on your opponent isn't always a big deal - it's mainly helpful when you're playing against someone who is intelligent, thinking/playing at least on level 3, and is paying attention to everyone else at the table themselves. Those kinds of players are awfully rare online. You can easily just sit back and play a tight agressive game, focusing mainly on your cards and not trying to pull fancy moves on other players, and routinely finish ITM in SnGs.

And spresso, I quit using GT+ many months ago, so I can't really offer you any advice about using heads-up displays while multi-tabling except to say that many people have problems with the displays. I used to use GT+ when I was two-tabling ring games and didn't have much problems, but anything more than that and it got a bit hairy. Might want to check the PA forums and see if there is any advice there.

Wow. 15-20 at one time?? I can see the point that you can make more per hours if your a good player, but it sure seems like a lot of tables to keep track of. I guess your friend doesnt enter the turbo tournies and must have some pretty good RAM. 4 gigs?!?!?

I'd hate to have the internet go down on me when I'm at 20 SNGs. I get angry when I get knocked out of one SNG with a small buy in like $2 or $5 bucks.
