Default What's Your Move?

1/2 NL cash game, both players have about $200 in front.

You limp in with AKo; Ace of clubs, King of spades.

Flop comes King-high, with two clubs on the board. Your opponent pushes all-in. What's your move?

Does it change any if your opponent is Phil Gordon?

What if you've been drinking?

Well if I have been drinking I'd definetly call. If my oppenent has been drinking I'd be calling as well. Though either way I'd probably have to call. I'd have to assume the all in bet was from a guy with a flush draw and maybe middle to top pair to boot. I can't imagine he has trips and there is a chance he only has something like AQ or Ax. Maybe he hit Middle Two pair and was scared of flush? Who knows but can't imagine throwing the hand away.

If it was Phil Gordan I'd definetly be calling b/c if I win I get to brag about busting him and thats worth atleast another couple hundred dollars so now the pot odds are huge!

What was the result?

I would beat him in to the pot with my chips. What else are you hoping to flop when you limp in with AK. And if he draws you out with a flush draw, o well thats poker.

I folded b/c I am WEAK. But we had been drinking, and I was sick on top of it.

Bad play on my part though.

it reallly depends on what the other two cards are, and your position, his image etc.

but all that ignored, fold
all u have is top pair top kicker. and u have no idea at all what ur opponent is holding.

you've sort of put yourself in the situation because you didn't define your hand preflop so your allowing him to make a play on you (despite being a pretty poor/shit play)

i understand you were trying to vary your play so you just flat called rather than raised.
but if the situation turns out this way, it doesn't make it possible for you to call with top pair top kicker, he could have a flush draw, two pair, or a straight draw + flush draw,
he woudln't have any other hands stronger because he would have slow played unles he accidentally pressed the all in button (which actually might be the case for whateveer hand he had)

either way, u probably are ahead, but i'd find a better situation to put all my chips in the middle, dont want to be the one overcalling for all of my stack with top pair. i'd rather be the one pushing so ther's fold equity

I can't argue with nxtyear reasoning either. Though statisically I'd say you should call, if I was in the same situation and somebody raised me all-in on a small pot for $200 bucks there'd be a good chance I'm actually folding b/c I wouldn't want to lose $200 bucks. Then again, thats why you wont see me sitting at NL ring game with $200 bucks.

On that bet i probably fold.
Just a pair of kings doesn't conforte me very much. I'm not a risky player.
I don't play drunk. Usually i don't drink.
Just if my oponent is Phil Gordon i'll give it a try and call. So to be plesed if i beat him.
Also i doubt Phil Gordon will play on such a small table.

He does if he's just having a good time with some friends.

You might be facing a set, or maybe 2 pair. The only quality hand you can probably beat is like K-Q and etc. Or maybe smoeone with the nut flush draw hoping to just win it right there.
