Default Anyone Live in Washington State?

If so, you might want to rethink playing poker online...

Starting June 7th, it's a Class C felony to play online poker in Washington state. You can be fined $10,000 or get up to five years in prison.

A lot of people think that these new laws will never actually be enforced, but some people think that the government will want to charge people with the law, just to make an example of them.

You can read more details here .

And, if you haven't sent a letter to your representatives about the Federal legislation that is currently in Congress to outlaw online poker, do so NOW. And tell your friends too!!!

It is a class c felony to gamble online. Gambling involves prize, consideration, and chance. If you don't pay anything you are not gambling. It looks like they can't stop someone from playing in freerolls.

Wouldnt the money that you win from the freerolls be considered a "prize"???

You have to do all three in order for it to be gambling.

A lot of the bars in the Denver area host NL Hold 'Em tourneys. There is no entry fee (therefore, no consideration), but the D.A. is still leaning on the games, trying to get them stopped. According to the D.A., because the bars are getting residual sales from the poker tourneys, they are profiting from gambling. However, the law seems to state otherwise.

That said, they did shut down a ring of games a few months ago, back room games at clubs run by Asian owners. (That's not a racial slur, just a fact of the story; no Asians were harmed in the writing of this post.)
