I found out about another game in Atlanta close to my hotel that happens on Thursday nights. It's also put on by Georgia Poker Nights, and occurs at a place called The 285 Line. I told one of my coworkers about it, and we both decided go down and play.

We both did very well. The field was 24 people (3 tables of 8 each), and both of us made it to the final table after starting on separate tables. My coworker took 4th, and I took 2nd! I think his prize was a free beer coupon; I'm not exactly sure. Mine was a $10 gift certificate to the restaurant where the tournament was held. It expires in a month, so it's perfect for when I come down here next month for more classes.

My best hand of the night was a Full House, Kings over Queens. I held KQ offsuit, and called the first round of betting. The flop showed K-K-x (I don't remember the third card), so I bet about 3x BB with one caller. The turn was Q, completing my Full House, so I pushed hard again, 5x BB. Again, the caller answered. The river was another blank, and I pushed all in. He did too. I turned over my KQ and he turned over QQ. We both had full houses, but I had Kings over and he had Queens over.

The most memorable hand of the tournament was a three way pot in which I was not involved. Three players went all in, one with 77, another triumphantly showing cowboys (KK) and the third showing rockets (AA.) It was all over at that point already, but the third player caught two more aces on the turn and river to complete the quad. Very nice.

This is a fun group. I will definitely be going back next month, and will report to this forum, if you guys are interested in hearing about it.
