Here's another reason Hellmuth isn't a good fit: everybody looks like a hobbit next to him. How tall is this guy--8'7"!!?? At the end of the show last night, when he was standing next to Foley and the players, he absolutely dwarfed them. The poor cameraman could hardly keep his head and theirs in the same frame.
And after watching the recap of the seasonyesterday, I have to say he just isn't genuinely quick and witty enough for this gig, IMHO.

They should have him kind of lean/sit on a stool while everyone else stands. There used to be a sportscasting team here in Denver with that problem. The play-by-play guy was short, probably about 5'6" or so, and the color announcer was about 7' (Scott Hastings). They used to have the play-by-play guy stand on a riser and Scott would sort of half sit on a stool so they could get them in shots together on the court after the game.

Lol I could so see Phil Hellmuth pulling off one of these, "What an idiot!, how did he make that call. This guy cant even spell poker!" atleast once. But you just cant beat the original Phil Gordan. Hes such a nice guy about everything, tells you the odds of the hands when you need it, and he also tells you what he would do in some of the situation so it makes it enjoyable to actually watch. Hellmuth just would cut it in my opinion. If anyone has read PHil Gordan's Little Green Book, they would agree with me that he is a genius and probably the best poker player there is who hasnt won a bracelet yet.

-Drago.

To the End!

You would never get Hellmuth to slouch down. He is very proud of his height. I have seen interviews where he goes on and on about how his height gives him an advantage at the poker tables. Makes him seem dominant over the other players.

I actually believe thought that Phil Gordan is taller than Phil Hellmuth. It was just that Gordon is a nicer guy so people just overlooked it.

Helmuth should stay broadcasting because he is a whiner at the table. Love seeing this man lose and get knocked out of the tourney. Only because he feels he is the greatest. I could understand players thinking they're good or maybe the best in their own mind but he takes it to another level. A level where you'd just want to say shut the F up!
