I'm curious to know if people give much thought to playing freerolls as part of an overall bankroll management strategy, of if you just play them because you can't lose. Or maybe other reasons factor into your personal mix. In my case, I play buyins and cash games using money I've won in freerolls. I did create a small initial bankroll with my own money when I started playing, but took that back when I had won enough to do so. As a result, my entire bankroll now is a combination of money won in freerolls plus money won in buyins that were paid for with freeroll winnings.

| i think same is at me..i used freeroll winnings to play hups and s&g and buy-in tourneys to raise my bankroll. i have "special" bankroll managment.. when i need to play for example 10$ buyin i try to make 10$ from hups and s&g and play that 10$ buyin tourney for "free". even if my bankroll is really solid i still won't play 20$ buyin s&gs and tourneys with high buy-ins if the ratio how much i can win/lose is not on my side.. maybe i need to loose up a little and play higher tourneys ![]()

Most freerolls are easily found and thus overpopulated to the point of being unprofitable. I play on Titan and hunt for the private freerolls that have 1:1 or better person to dollar ratio (i.e. 100 people $100 prize pool). I got my main bankroll there by winning one of those and multiplying it, and I use those freerolls and cheap buy in's with money added to supplement my MTT and SnG play.

I look for new sites that don't have many members but have nice freerolls. I use that money to build up my freeroll. I try to play a few MTTs at the same time so I don't get inpatient. All too often I can't just play one game. If I can't find a game to play I will read posts on a forum or check my email. It keeps things moving for me. (I guess I am just not ready to play live poker).

I have used freerolls to start my bankroll. Read about Ferguson turning $1 into $20K and wanted to see how much I could turn with freeroll winning. My first freeroll cash was a whopping $2.50, I built this up aways and then lost it. So I said screw that. I deposited $100 into a poker account so I could join there $500 new depositor freerolls (average players 100-150) decent chance of winning. I took this down and netted $150. So my poker bankroll was now $250 and from here built it up playing tight in .10/.25 games. Amazing how if you are patient in these games, you can build up your bankroll significantly. So the answere to your question is simple, because of the freeroll winnings I recieved it doubled my bankroll therefore played a huge part in my poker playing experience.
