Default What Makes A Pro

hmmmmmmmmm i see all these *pros* playing in these huge trnys......you think they'd be there if they didn't have the $$, & do you think we wouldn't be there if we had the $$ look at some of the wins these ppl have had with some of the worst cards imaginable, i mean really, are they pros because they win, hardly, in my opinion their $$ did a lot to get them in the games

I agree most of them have the dollars in there bankroll and dont care about the buy in. If I ever get a good roll put together and dont have to pay bills with it I think I could do good to

I suspect it's hard to know if they're better until you've had sufficient time facing them at the tables. Of course, if they are better, that could be expensive.

what makes a pro? I think ist the ability to read ppl like a book. And to be bale to do the math about outs of your hands. And to be able to lose.
I see them on T.V going all in with 7 3.... they have no fear or just stupid. lol

A player will never win any game or tournament, no matter hwo large or how small without bluffing. You have to take the chance; you'll never get enough good starting hands.
The other aspect is that because some players have the rep of playing any 2 cards, you'll never know what they have. Do they have rags, or have they got AA? If you only play winning hands, you'll never take the other players' money.
And yes, playing the player and not the cards is an old poker saying that the best players go by. Just this last weekend I saw Raymer (sp?) make the same player lay down the winning hand 3 times in a row just by betting. So I respect the top players ability to turn any cards in winners.

Default some things you need

first off you need money, some of the pros out there started with a lot of money from other places and found poker, but the reason you need money is because you cant be worried about money because you will have no conviction, you will be easily bluffed and you wont follow your instincts enough. Elite pros will have one of two things or a little of both extremely great mathamatical minds or great ability to read players. I would say David Skalansky is an example of the mathmatical mind and Phil Ivey is an example of great ability to read and act on it. Phil Hellmuth is a little bit of both. Of course there is so much more to it, I think with everything it is practice and a love for what you are doing, I also believe it probably is a lot easier to make a living with the overwhelming popularity of it now.
