Neither snow, nor sleet, nor gloom of night could keep me from my appointed pokergame I had trouble with Mother Nature, too. Power here went out about 6:30. I waited patiently for it to come back on (I had already registered earlier in the day). But by 7:45 it still wasn't on. I was really surprised--rare for the power here to be out that long from a summer storm (winter power outages are another story).
So I had resigned myself to not being able to play. But then I thought, if I played on my laptop running on battery and used dial-up since the BB was out, maybe I could make it work. So I raced downstairs to my office, and fumbled around in the dark to find a phone cord. I ran the cord to the laptop, and much to my surprise was able to get online.
I got to the table just as play started, so I was kinda flustered and unfocused. I got my bearings, and settled in. I was worried the whole time though that the battery might give out, so I still wasn't playing my normal game. My chip stack dwindled, but I finally got a hand I could do something with--KK. Went all in. Was surprised to get a call from Illini. Thought he must have AA or AK. I was stunned to see 10, 8 offsuit. And then further stunned to see a straight develop from the community cards. Bye bye, Thinkerbell.
Oh well. Tonight will be a different story, hopefully!
