i go through phases where i only want to play sitngos or multitables but ring games if you are really unlucky, meaning no starting hands u can change tables where as your stuck in tourneys. Ring games if i play consistent i almost always leave the table up, the problem for me in ring games is staying consistent and not tilting when i get an all in donk/ Ringgames are where i am at right now but i have gotten my biggest one day profit from winning in tourneys.

If you dont like me or something about me just say so. I'm just giving my advice at how it should be. If you go to a table with an amount of money you feel uncomfortable losing than your doing something wrong because odds are you will then. But Dolva is doing pretty well and im glad to see that. Took me a long time of struggling to get to where i am now and know the knowledge i know. Not trying to be rude to anyone.

I've just recently started playing mini tournaments, and I really like them. I like that they can be finished somewhat quickly--I usually don't have hours and hours to devote to a MTT. I like that you can get to size up your opponents, and use more strategy with them. I also find that I either win or break even averaged over a day, as opposed to the SNGs, where you can go bust over and over if you get frustrated and keep trying to turn it around. I also found it offputting at the SNGs when you'd get the table right where you want it, and then a new player comes in and throws everything out of kilter.

Unless you're going pro, play what you want. Pros have to grind at cash games. They make their money off the tourists. The tournaments are an attraction for them because of the side games, not the tournament itself.

Sure, a big tournament win is very nice, but the variance in them is outrageous. Who was the highest big pro in the WSOP ME? Other than Allen Cunningham, I think Phralad Friedman was next closest. THe Iveys, Negreanus, Hellmuths, Brunsons, Lederers, et cetera didn't win a nickel.

I am not a pro (although I win more than I lose, which is nice ). So I play what I want to play, which is MTTs and SnGs. When the bankroll gets a little tight, I might grind at PLO8 for a while.

and another thing, since the thread is called "Playing only SNGs?"

SNGs CAN be played profitably if you are slightly above average. The fact that 30 (or 33) per cent get paid takes away a lot of the variance of MTTs.

I guess the topic was money and which is better. But i don,t make a living playing poker so i agree with other posts here saying i find Ring games a little too stressful. So for the enjoyment factor not mentioned i prefer S&g,s !!

I play about 1 sng a week of about a $10 buy in avg. With a bankroll well above that the amount of $10 is good and allows me to lose alot before my bankroll gets low. I do not play sng's though to make alot of money, more to just have fun and play a small tourney that doesn't take 3 hours.
