poker pros say: NEVER show your cards!

i use showing card option in hup tourneys i play.. when i'm playing against really tight players who are folding everything but premium hands.. i make big raise preflop with garbage hands couple of times to make them fold, then show hands like 94, 73 etc.. or when re-raising their hands on flop to make them fold with hands like that.. that can be a good trick sometimes, and if you lose some chips when you're reraised you will have a good oportunity to make them to move when you have nuts vs their marginal hands..

sometimes i use showing cards in bubble time of mtts, when i'm medium stack and i have a hand.. to make good "tight" table image - that will scare people out playing vs you, and it is lower chance you can be outhdrawn..

Default Showin'

I usually do not like to show my cards, unless there is a hand that I played particularly well on, in my opinion. Other than that, I tend to muck rather than show. mainly because, I do not want someone to learn my style and adapt to it, if that makes any sense. It does to me. Anyway, I also muck because i go by "You have to pay to see them" That usually angers people, and I know this because it used to bother me when others did the same. But now, seeing their cards is just an extra bonus, it doesnt bother me if i dont get to see them.

Default muck

I always muck my cards. anytime you show ur cards you are giving the other players information about what you play and the way you play which is something you do not wanna do. If you never show then they never know what you. My strategy is to try and win every hand with out having a show down therefore peole never get to see what im doing. If you notice people who tend to show there cards alot hardly ever seem to win. A good example was in the one wsop event this year that Negreanu won. That dealer guy that liked to run his mouth a lot was showing his cards every time he beat negreanu heads up but negreanu ended up kicking his butt in the end. once negreanu saw how the gy was playing those hands you could read him like a book.

I just began playing in a live league. Man everyone is showing cards left and right to one another but not I. I still go with you have to pay to see them. The game starts pretty loose passive with little pre flop raising and there are some pretty bad players.

I managed to bubble two weeks in a row my first two games and one off the bubble the other night. Its my first season in the league and Ive final tabled each week in our preseason games. Once i get everyone figured out Ill be ready to go and should be able to bring home a few wins. I think Ive seen just about everyone that will be playing in the league when it starts on September 8th.
