All good advice. I like many above like small pocket pairs 22-77 !! I find 5-5 to be my favorite. For some reason i hit tripps with them often. If you can get in cheaply and hit the set you can make a very nice pot. I have even had luck and hit them on the TURN if its only a minimum bet and i have a good chip stack. But i fold them if a player in the early position bets 4xBB or more because i know if i don,t hit them i will have to fold. Because i know he is going to make a bigger bet after the flop.

Default small pocket pairs

I like to raise big if i get a small pocket dealed to me. This, in my opinion, chases off those who may want to limp in to see the flop, or even pay a small amount to see if they hit anything. I don't like taking chances that someone will hit their ace, king, queen, etc, which will most likely beat my small pockets, unless i hit a set. So bet big pre-flop to get rid of unwanted chasers.

In a full game 7-10 handed I try to limp in from any position I NEVER raise 5-6 handed I will raise on the button 1-4 I will come out with 4-5 times the big blind bet and after the flop I will bet the pot at least if face cards are showing I do this because my raise preflop shows I have face cards(usually) I always try to be the agressor with my small pocket pair to keep to keep the pressure on the other people...I would much rather have the pressure on the other people then myself. Now if I should happen to hit my set on the flop I will always the check and smooth call the flop and turn I want them to think I will bluff them on the river when the river comes I do a little over bet to try to sell them that I am trying to buy the pot and usually I get reraised, very rarely do they fold I get at least a call. The onlly time I bet the turn is when the board is scary like a flush or straight board then I want them to have to pay ot make there straight or flush. I hope this helps anyone

Default small pockets

lately, i've been getting small pockets as well, but i seem to be winning with them alot as well, which has worked out great for me
my main winner is pocket 5s, i seem to hit a 5 on the flop almost every time i get that hand, its awesome. with small pockets, i like to bet huge pre-flop to scare chasers out, and so if people call, i get a good pot if i hit, which is always nice to have. if i'm raised though, i have to think about it, but i will usually fold if its a big enough raise. just to be safe

Yes, 55 is a good pair to start.
I always play small pocket pairs with just a call and expect to catch the trips from flop. I will be catching someone with this hand.

The key is you have to get in for cheap. I can't win a coin flip so i have to rely on hitting a third or a draw. Boy, if you hit them, that's how you win tournies. you need to hit 3 or 4 of them and lay a bad beat to win any money or tourny.

Small pocket pairs I play differently depending on my mood. If they raise big I may just push all in. Depending on what type of tournament I am playing. If it's a freeroll its and easy push. Ring games would have to think differently depending on how the player has been playing the whole time. If it is a low stakes game its definitely any easy call or all in. 10/20 in which is my favorite table you may even think about folding dependind on how many callers. Keep in mind low ring games most likely the most you will lose is $100 with a small pair. Not a big hit but at the 10/20NL a small pocket pair that loses to an all in could cost $400-$2000+. If you have never played in high stakes ring games before trust me its a whole new ball game. That 160 in chip raise in tourney play is really $160 in ring game play. Majorly different!

Usually dont' play pairs from 22 to 66 unless it's a cheap entry to the flop and my stack is good...or almost depleted. Than i would push.
Actually i fold 22 imediately sometimes...like a 7 3 or 2 8 or something...the odds of getting a 2 down is kinda small...and if u don't get it into the flop...than definately fold.
So most of the time fold.
Thanks for the question and for the very good answers!

Smile Small Pocker Pair

I don't like small pocket pairs. Most times in online play if you have a pocket pair, someone else does too, and more than likely bigger than yours. I will sometimes play them. If someone raises preflop, I will usually fold them unless I am in the blind. Actually, I think they hit more than the larger pairs, but I'm not willing to lose my stack for them.
