Default New to Poker. Help

Hi guys/gals/pokerplayers,

I am new to online poker and quite new to poker itself but hvae played a few times and felt its a very good way to kill some time if you have the money.

I have come accross a few sites through advertisements, like partypoker.com,paradisepoker.com,pokerstars.com,po kerroom.com, but i am unable to figure out which one to go to. Some look interesting but am scared to put in any information. You know the kind of scams and spams happening these days. i would like to have some suggestions about where to play and also know what kind of games and sites you like.

Let me know please so that i can start off ASAP.

Cheers!!!

I can assure you that any of the sites you listed are legit, and secure. They make plenty of money, and they dont need to steal it from you.

for start i think titan poker or any ipoker network site (Cd Poker, Betfred, Kiwi, Noble) is good if you don't want to risk big money.. those sites are secure, and you have really low stakes to play and learn there.. you have sit & goes tourneys from 1$ there, heads-up tourneys for 1$ and micro stakes nl games .. on other sites i think the lowest s&g and hup tourney is 5$ buy-in

Hey, heythatsme,

Thanks for asking for advice. I think you'll find that all of the major sites are on the up-and-up. It's important to them to be legit, because they will lose a lot of money if they are not.

As for where to play, my personal preference is PokerStars, and I play at Titan a lot due to my affiliation with this forum (our league tournaments and freerolls are held there.) However, you should probably try several sites until you find the one you like best. Each site has advantages and disadvantages, usually in the way they present information on the screen. What works well for you may not work as well for me, and vice versa.

I would strongly suggest that you start with play money online, however. Learn how to play the game using play money so you don't lose your hard-earned dollars due to rookie mistakes. Also, there are lots of sites that have great advice for beginning Hold 'Em players (including this one ... follow this link for the main page.)

Finally, don't be afraid to ask questions of people in these forums. I think you will find that our members are respectful, pleasant, and helpful. Welcome to the world of online poker!

I dont really agree with starting with play money, I mean unless you can build your play money bankroll fast so you can play at some of the higher levels all it really is, is shove in with any two card and call someone down with Jack high, at least that has been my exprience with the play money tables. I think as long as you have the basics down like the hand ranking and blinds and raising and stuff like that you should be fine with starting off in some mirco stakes. That way there will still be some poker being played and not just shove in with anything. Plus its not like its going to take a huge bankroll to play at those stakes. And youll have alot better experience for later.

Another piece of advice I would give is dont get caught just playing no limit holdem. There are tons of other great games out there and you never no which ones you like untill you try them. No limit might be the easiest to learn but that doesnt mean thats its the best game.

After you play for a while I would recomend the site fulltiltpoker. In my opion its the best site but there are no really mirco stake games like $.01/$.02 games so you might need a bit bigger of a bankroll.

Hope this helped

hey! "hey that's me" first of all id like to welcome you to the online world, because it is very different than live poker for a lot of reasons. I would highly suggest playing on paradisepoker.com that is one of the best sites ive played on and its not a scam at all. The competition is ranked as one of the highest in online, and even though you're a beginner this will help you get better quicker. The next one i would like to mention wold be the ipokerclient programs... Titanpoker.com, cdpoker.com, pokerocean.com these are all similar and protect your money well, etc. I hope you enjoy the game and good luck to you!

My advice is read a poker book and get a starting hand list. Start playing Micros (Titan is an excellent choice), cause you want to learn cheap, then move up the stakes as you get more wins / confidence.

Also joining a forum is a great way to learn about online poker. And go for the Bonuses, cause even if you play average poker, you can make a profit from earning Bonuses. GL.
