The World poker tour tournament style is designed for T.V. with lots of all ins and drama and not for the poker players playing in it. the blinds are so high that is practically a crap shoot for who wins the tournament. Im not gonna say it doesnt take skill but it takes less skill than a WSOP event would and i would say that is more of a "real poker" tournament.

fast eddie in the movie "the hustler" said that in the game of pool...the balls roll funny for evryone some days....well i think that the same holds true for poker...the cards fall funny for everyone some days...all the skill in the world can't beat the luck of the draw....

very good point brought up , when i watch the wpt i feel that it is overdone being more of a show than a big money poker tournament,

I was just reading a story in All In Mag about the WPT. It is definitely geared for TV. When two players had most of the chips the organizers and the players decided to add a zero to everyones chip stack to make the tourney last longer for TV. Also the format changes every year, with past winners invited but "sponser requested" players invited also.

I'm going to Niagara Falls next month and just found out that the WPT will commence there the day after I leave. Arggggghhhhh.
