Default How do you pick your screen name?

What's your screen name at online poker rooms?
Do you use 1 or different screen names for every poker room?
What factors come in play while choosing your screen names?

Do you believe that screen names give out information about your playing style or how good you are?

Here's what Randy has to say about screen names.

My screen name has nothing to do with my poker style. I use Lytspeed for everything from my posting here to my domain name, so I don't suspect that it gives away anything about my playing style.

In fact, most people think that it means something completely different from what it meant when I originally received the nickname; originally, it was an insult, but I turned it around and made it my own.

That said, I think nicknames can say something about a person's playing style, but they can also be misleading. For instance, bigpimpinNDA's nickname certainly fits with his style; over the top and pushy. But a name like Poker_Newbie (fictional, as far as I know) might be intentionally misleading.

Lol you used bigpimpinnda as your example. he's definitely a player that is allin or allout. I know what u mean by picking misleading names but my guess is that when they started they probably was true to the name but as they progess they'll definitely have a misleading name. That is if they improve. For me I wouldn't want to have a name that is stuck in a poker site for a life time. I picked ssmooth8 or something in that likely sense just because it was a nickname I had since I was a kid for a silky smooth hoop game.

I use Dynosaur after the one and only Greg Raymer (Fossilman aka Dinosaur). He won the 2004 WSOP main event and I started online poker at the end of that year. Plus there are a couple of other reasons not related to poker.

My screen names at sites and forums are ussualy sensei24.

Elfsim is an exception. It has a part of my girlfriend name ( Simona) and it's a very lucky screen name for me.

I have only 2 screen names that I use. Either CEMfromMD or CEMFredMD. The first one is fairly obvious, it is my actual intials and the at I am from Maryland. The send one, which I am using here on BBP as well as on Titan Poker, is my initials, the first 4 letters of the town I am from, and the abbreviation for MD. I seem to get more people who are familar with the Maryland area to actually contact me and just shoot the breeze for a while, I guess it makes them feel more comfortable talking to me!

Default My Screen Names

I started out using my initials and last name. I decided I wanted to use something that said a little about me. Since I moved from the North to the South, I decided to use Southern Yankee.

Here are some of my Table Names: MEBratton, MEBratto, Southern Yankee, SouthernYankee, SouthrnYankee, SouthrnYanke, SouthnYanke, well lets just say, if you are playing a Southern Yankee of any combo it might be me.
Hope to see you at the tables soon.
