Default Purple Lounge - Latest site to ban US players

I just received this email today. I thought others should know in case you have money there. It looks like prima sites are starting to drop US accounts. I know they say this isn't connected to prima, but dreampoker announced something similar yesterday.

As you will be aware there are currently several actions being taken in the US against online gaming companies. While this has so far focussed on organizations based outside the untied states involved in taking sports bets from US resident citizens we believe that the current legislation at both a federal and state level is insufficiently clear to allow us to continue taking business from US residents at this time. Further clarifications of the rules governing online poker and casino as opposed to sports betting are required and hopefully when this clarification is in place we will be able to resume taking bets and poker traffic from players based within the United States. Until the existing legislation is clarified, Purple Lounge will no longer take customers, bets or poker rake from any player resident within the United States of America. Any US player who holds a Purple Lounge account with a current balance will be able to withdraw their money over the next 14 days. Please note that this action is not a Prima/Microgaming Network restriction but a decision taken by the Purple Lounge Team alone and applies to Purple Lounge only. We do apologise for any inconvenience that may be caused by this action and we will of course endeavour to keep you sufficiently informed of any change in this policy. Kind Regards Purple Lounge

I got a reply from purple lounge poker about a few questions I had. For those hoping they can wait it out and/or just play freerolls. That is not a good plan. All the more reason to contact your senator today. If you have less than $45 you just need to withdraw the full amount from your account. They will charge you $1 if you are under $45.

------------------------------------------
Can I withdraw my money after 14 days or do I need to withdraw it now? I ask, because I would still like to play in freerolls and then withdraw later.

You will need to withdraw your funds within the 14 day period. Unfortunately Purple Lounge will no longer take customers, bets or poker rake from any player resident within the United States of America so you will not be able to take part in any freerolls at this time.

I definitly agree with you there. I would think that banning US players would really hurt the sites because US player make up a good portion of player. Plus I would think that the US goverment cant do anything about the off shore poker sites.

Unfortunately, the government can pressure banks not to honor transfers to pay sites like Neteller or Moneybookers, and they can pressure ISPs to turn over records of IP addresses that access poker sites, whether offshore or not. It's an ugly trend.

I already wrote my senators, and I'm hoping that today's Poker Player Alliance Phone March did some good as well.

Thats a hell of a lot now not accepting US based players everest RoyalCardroom and now dreampoker and purplelounge.

So this then is going to end up wide spread you think?

I also read a lot of the pokerrooms are not going to the Casino Convention this month in Vegas due to all of this player betting arrestests even though there pokerrooms. Look like a lot of ppl are getting very twitch and soon only us in UK can play hee hee freerolls all the way then

Seriously though i think they have nothing to worry about as far as i am aware its due to taking bets over the phone.

I had never deposited on the site. I had been given the original $3 promo money and then worked it up to about $38.50 with small buyins and freeroll wins. Since I use Neteller I had to deposit in order to withdraw. I deposited he minimum $10 thru Neteller and then withdrew the $48.50. I did it last nite and it was in my account when I got home tonite. They didnt even make me clear off the $3 and since it was over $45. I didnt get hit.

This onslaught is making me just consolidate down to a few rooms. Dream poker is banning 7 states now. Since Im in NY im not effected yet.

I imagine many of these small sites will go belly up once they lose their USAers.

I think that everyone wheather the are a resident of the US or not should talk to thier political leaders about this im a canadian player but it makes no sense on why they have to ban US players i think you will all agree.
