One of my biggest pet peeves, is when you get a good high pair, the board comes with a pair. In this hand, I put him on a 8X. No trips for him. The fact that he is hanging in on this hand makes me think he could be chasing a flush with two spades in his hand, so seeing that 3 of spades on the river makes me nervous. If he just hit a flush, I would like to think he would come out with a screaming bet.... Since he didnt, I put him on 8A, 8K, or 8Q. BUT, with the possibility of a flush, I would simply check and turn it over.

He checked the River, so I would bet. Having a pair higher than what is on the board puts you in excellent position. He never CR or anything aggressive, so I think that he would call your bet and you would scoop. This would be a standard play IMO. I agree that 8-Xs or 8-Xo are possible hands.

I would actually check, since the possibilty of a straight is there. I have seen many people that would stay to the river with a Ax, and if that x happens to be a 4, then you would be throwing money away. With a nice pot like this, you dont want to get too greedy, since a check on the river with this board would open the door to a check raise if he did hit the flush, or even a oversized checkraise to steal the pot if they didnt hit.

This seems to me to be one of those hands where it's tempting to bet for value, but where doing so isn't a very good play because there are few hands that will call you when you're ahead, even given the good pot odds. What holdings that you beat are reasonable to put the opponent on after the betting is taken into consideration. And how many of those will call? The ones that will fold don't matter since you'll win the same amount whether you bet or not. You can add in better hand than yours that will fold if you bet, but that's not very many. Against this, how many hands will either call and beat you, or check-raise you? There's always some chance the opponent will suddenly decide to check-raise as a bluff, but it's certainly not probable. On balance, betting on the end doesn't increase how much you win very often, and is more likely to increase how much you lose. So a check seems in order.

i should bet, he may have a low pair and dont have a very strong hand because he checks the river but he could be whaiting for you to bet but if is a ver ygood hand he probably bet hard on the river, so for me the best option is to bet nad if he raise call and see. flaq
