Sorry the question was kinda vague. I was referring to freezeout tournaments. I also record my hands in a small notebook i keep beside my computer. I use initials on if i played a hand aggressive or passive and what position i was in a hand and what i won or lost with. I also record it if they show me their hand. It helps tons. I also do it in live tournaments.

Why lower your standards? Then again what are premium hands to you. Sure 10/9 suited looks like crap in early position but if you see that in late position with limpers a raise might pick up the blinds. Even if your raise gets called. Say the flop comes A, 9, 7. You hit middle pair, but if you bet hard, representing the ace, most likely the table will think you hit your Ace and give up. Now if you get re-raised, obviously you get a little worried. Sure getting cold decked is frustrating but in my opinion, don't lower your standards. Wait for the good hands, they will come, when they do, get your pots. Good luck my friend, hope the cards warm to your favor.

***** Note. just saw your re-post saying this is for tournaments. My fault thought we were talking ring games here. Obviously can't wait forever in tournaments, my go out like Broomcorn's Uncle. (Super System reference)

Thanks Gilbert. I just started reading super system last week. I haven't really gotten into it yet. I'll look it up and see what you mean. I play premium cards. I rarely play 10 9 suited or not. I know it seems weird but i do play 10 7 alot. That's one of the few subpar hands i play until i'm forced. Thanks though it's helped tons.

For those who don't own Super System, Broomcorn's Uncle is the name given to an extremely tight player who wastes away his whole chip stack to the blinds, waiting for just the right hand to play.

This has been a public service announcement from your friendly neighborhood poker forum.

I too try to play ony top quality starting hands, and its hard very hard when cards are running cold. Still I'd rather stick with the game plan then lower my standards.

You always have to change it up. If you only play premium hands. other people will catch on. Having different gears is good to use. being reckless under control is the best way. You usually get paid off in the long run as long as you don't get trapped...Which does happen when you play that way

if the cards are cold 2 u its gonna look like your really tight so id still keep playi premium hands early on and after about 90 mins u will still have a tight image where u can steal the bigger blinds unless ur around 10x BB keep it the same and if ur 10x BB or less look 4 an all in hand
