Default Donkey v. Fish

Whats the difference between a donkey and a fish?

No, this is not a joke, dont expect a punchline. You see these terms thrown around quite often, and I just want to know. Is there a difference?

I think that a fish is someone that has some experience and know alittle of what there doing but evenually there chips will end up in a better players stack. And a donkey would be someone who doesnt know what their doing or dont care but and their chip will also endup in someone elses stack. So no matter what you call these players the end result is still the same.

A donkey is a player that can't lay down a hand regardless if they had nothing and tried to bluff at the pot the whole time. A fish is definitely a more experienced player just because they know what they are doing. New players that don't have anything usually will fold on the flop if they don't fold and end up trying to raise with nothing they then would be labeled a donkey. Fishes are in everybody and we all have to admit that. If you see that you have an open ended straight or a flush draw and the bet is definitely reasonable you will definitely at least make the call. If you think you're opponent has nothing but made the raise preflop and nothing really looks as if the player hit the board you can definitely make a raise. They key word is THINK. You may be wrong but just because you raise doesn't mean you can't fold if they push all in and you're trying for your open ended. Many players with a flush draw will call the all in to have 2 chances to hit their flush. A donkey is a terrible player. A fish just gets under your skin as they suckout a lot. I have been labeled both. Don't mind being called a fish but hey I hate being called a donkey. Sometimes you have to bluff and if you get lucky then who cares. Get over it. I definitely do not bluff every hand nor the majority of it.
