Default Losing chips

What should I look to do when I am not getting any good cards and when the blinds are eating away at my chips.

I found myself in a position where I was a meduim stack until everyone started to double up. I was getting cards such as and so I couldnt even call the raise when I was in the big blind.

As i kept folding my blinds ate at my stack. This took me to a position where I had to make a move with and resulted in being eliminated.

What should I do when I am not catching any cards and when I am losing chips to the blinds? Also how should i do it?

Thanks

the key is to not let the blinds knock ur stack to low before you start going all in pre flop. I personally like to start puhin all in when my stack gets to about 8x the big blind. Anything lower then that and big stacks can call you with marginal hands because it want hurt their stack much. 8x the big blind though will take a large chunk of most players stacks there fore they are not likely to call unless they have a monster hand.

i played yesterday tourney on titan - 1000$ freezeout (with 10+1$ buyin).. and i think i never had craps like there in my life.. i mean every hand i was dealt was like you talking about: 63, 72, 83 .. i survived because i won 3-way allin with 77, and in late stages blinds become really big (you know titan's crazy blind structure).. i played really tight so i missed some good doubles against loose players (but i really don't like to call a move with hands like A8 or A9 even knowing that i have favourite hand preflop when i have stack for money). last 30 hands i was dealt only craps, i finished in 8th place (winning about 45$ which is awesome with cards i got there) losing allin on my bb with 63 (i had less than BB) .. only playable hands i had on tourney (which lasted 3 hours) was AK two times, JJ, 1010, 77 and 44

my advice: when things like that happen i think the best strategy when your stack is less than big blind is to turn sit out (because sitouts always win there allin on their blind)

Really when your not catching cards, your screwed. You are unable to win. Thats it you have to be patient and wait for a hand, which you did but it just wasn't your day/night and you lost.

No. 1 - Don't Panic
No. 2 - Bend over and kiss the tournie goodbye
No. 3 - Check to see if you made the money

We've all been knocked out of tournies with good and bad cards. I like to make my all-in moves with 5-6x the BB. This way you still give yourself a chance to move up the money and two you can still steal blinds. You need to watch to see who has tightened up and attack.

Here is my advice:

When you just aren't catching any cards, pick a hand when the most aggressive players haven't called (even that sometimes doesn't happen when you're having a game like that!) and go all in. Hopefully you can bully everybody else out of the hand. Of course, if your luck is simply all around crappy, chances are somebody is going to have AA or something like it and call your all in. In that case, all you can do is sit back and pray. I seem to get my AA cracked all the time, so it might work out.

Thinkerbell has a good point and mine is similar....

When your getting to around 10X the big blind, when the more passive players are in the pot limp in see if you catch, if not see if the players still in are acting rather weak. ( Late Position is better ) Once you've found how the field has reacted, if there is a paired board play like you have hit the set.

Sometimes you may get caught but if every one has let you see the flop for the price of the big blind, then none of them can have to great a hand and will be more likely to part with it as there isn't much invested in it.

However, i wouldn't employ these tactics if there is someone in the pot that is worse off than you because they are more likly to push all in with random hands, and if they hit generally a good player short stacked would check and wait for a larger stack to try and push them off the hand then go over the top or call all in....

Try and play the players, and not just the cards.... If there is an ace on the flop and no-one has bet out at it and you are in late position act like you've just connected with Ace King....

This is just the way i tend to play... You have a good chance of success and a chance of failure, but if you succeed you can get yourself right back into the fray.

If you lose your blinds, it's really okay since you can pick up the blinds of the other players.
Steal and live on.
