I'm sure many of you are aware of poker stakes, but for those of you that aren't they go like this. A staker selects a "horse" with optimal sag/mtt/cash game stats or records and gives them a stake. The horse then plays the stake according to the plan laid out by the staker. If the horse loses after giving it his best shot, the staker just lost a stake and the horse might gain some bad credit. If the horse wins, he is responsible for paying back a set amount to his staker; A common practice is 50/50+stakeback.
Ex: -Staker puts up $10+1 for a MTT and horse wins it for $1000
-Horse pays staker 1/2 of 1000 ($500) and an additional $11 for the stake
I myself have been both a staker and a horse. My biggest cash in a MTT was on a stake from a good friend, so I had no complaints about shipping him 1/2. When a staker stakes good players, the rewards are tremendous. It's like watching a stock investment triple in an hour. Staking gives both the staker and the horse a chance at money which they would otherwise be unable to get, so I'm all for it.
