Default Rebuys

i really hate re-buys. i mean im stuck in a $20 , 1000guaranteed tourney. Several players have rebought 3 or four times while i sit being patient. its frustrating when its not the skill you have its how much money you have to blow. Its stupid. i wouldnt have entered if i would have realized it was rebuy. How do you deal with them? other than dont play.

well i blew it my paitience ran out. Being bullied because i guess they have more money than they need. must be nice. valuable lesson though. read the sign up board carefully. make sure of what you are signing up for is what you really want. at 20 bucks a pop there were 12 people playing, there were 16 yes 16 rebuys, and 7 add ons, i gave up. i lasted an hour and a half, up and down, but hanging in there. frustrating.

(16 Buyins +16 ReBuys +7 addons) x $20 = $780. The prize was Guaranteed to be $1000 so you payback ratio looked good. Maybe you can try a $5 or $10 rebuy tournie, with the intent of spending a maximum of $20. This will give you a chip advantage over people who are only willing to buy-in once.

If you can get lucky early in the tournie with big hands, you can take advantage of the All-in with anything mentality of some of the deeper wallets.

When I play a rebuy/addon, I like to go into the tournament willing to put up 1 buyin, 2 rebuys, and the 1 add-on. If it's a 10k guarantee and only 200 or something show up for the $20 buyin, I will put in money until I believe that there's no way I can win.

i'll give it a try, i just dont go into a tourney with the intent of throwing money away. thats the mentallity i saw last night. one guy on my table re-bought 4 times before he finally quit. 80 dollars on a tourney he was making freak bets on 800 chips on a 49 off siut. i just have a hard time justifying throwing money away like that. But i press on. Ill be silly and do it again. but for now ill try to stay with freezeout tourneys. skill rather than how deep your wallet is.

I prefer freezeouts too, but there is skill in rebuys. The guys who throw away money like that are present in all tournaments. The thing with rebuys is that you can get in a big race situation early and rebuy if you blank.

I really prefer freezouts, when a person starts out wiht 1k in a tournament rebuys then gets 2000 from rebuy and is allin every hand and bad beats someone that is just terrible, no fun when your on the losing hand in rebuys!

I don't like re-buys either but sometimes it's good f.ex. you lose with AA at the first hand then it's go to have a rebuy.

I try to stay away from rebuys because I think the best uppoach is the Daniel Negreanu one where you push hard with anything to try to build a big chip stack. You really need a big bankroll for this which I dont have right now.

IŽlike rebuys. The rebuys deep stack torneys and the better poker to play.
But 2 rebuys and 1 add-on is sufficient.
