| ive never been in a live game friends or not. but online ive had those nights. dont let it get to you. there will be nights that every other hand goes your way. and vice versa. the biggest thing ive learned is dont chase and patience. if you think you beat fold. dont think well one more or i might. be patient. be patient. ode to the poker gods |

| Two weeks ago I played with some friends, and just as you, I had a really crappy night and didn't get any good cards, but by playing aggressively you still win pots by betting into weak hands who'll fold. I went on to win the tourney (33 players entered with 25 bucks each person). Ended up with jacks against pocket fours and pocket sevens. Knocked out the two remaining players in the same hand, that's classic. |

| You sir are playing way to tight!!!! TIGHT!. Should remember in the books yes it does tell you that you wont always get good hands, but it also tells you that you need to stay in the game and a critcal way of doing this is by stealing blinds. You canot just sit around and let yourself get blinded out, its a terrible feeling i know ive been there and most people are there too or already have. You should watch Howard Lederer's secrets to no limit holdem then his more secrets to no limit holdem. Also with the 33 honestly you should of pushed in 75% of your stack because if you push all in honestly hes going to call you, but a stronger play than all in is pushing in a huge amount to let your opponent know your not fooling around and even if he calls he still has to put in more chips. And now to answer your question . Yes i have had times where this happened and i'll tell you of tihs glorious time. It was on Partypoker (sorry not a live match) and i was playing 3/6$ limit with 200$ on the table. This is way back when i use to play incredibly tight and would only play pp's or top 10 hands pretty much. If i raised and missed i'd check, I usually wouldnt raise with AK because i'd be afraid of losing, I was your normal wussy rock type player. I sat down at that table for 3 hours straight and could only play 5 hands if i remember correctly. And since i was so tight everyone kept on folding to my raises and sure enough the blinds took my 200$ lol. Definitly not a good feeling. You must also remember though that you have to mix up your style of playing and cant always just play one style throughout because some tables need tight for loose players and loose for tihgt players...etc. Obv though you were just out trying to have a good time like we normally do just personally me i get competitive about winning, thats just how i am. These times dont happen to often that you get not 1 hand for that period of time, but hey this is cards where are you might not know or you might, anything is possible. Hope this helps ![]() -Drago To the End! |

| You're right Drago. I was reading through the posts thinking the same thing. You don't always play your cards, play your opponents. If you're in late position with no callers or raisers, throw some money out there. If you get a caller and they check to you, throw some more money out there. I'm not talking a lot of money, 2-4 times the blind should work. But if you start a bluff, don't half-ass it and check on the river, keep that steady bet going. A check is a sure way to get raised to and only does you any good if that is what you wanted to begin with, which if you did you wouldn't have started this thread. It doesn't always work, but if you only wait for premium hands you only have one way to win. If you pick up some blinds here and there, or hit on those unsuited connectors or worse, you're making some money. If you bet, you can win two ways, if you never play, you will lose. Checkers, callers, and folders never win. Neither do loose aggressive players. Any good player will wait for him to beat himself. You set the noose, they walk up the ladder, put it around their neck, and jump off...so predictable. You want to be tight and aggressive, but not super tight. People catch you in to many hands you shouldn't be in then they won't respect your raise. Play to tight and your way to easy to read. Remember it's all about position. Early position, fold most hands but the premiums, in middle add a few more starting hands, late, you can play many different hands. These are all assuming no one has opened before you. If so pay attention to their position. It may help you decipher their hand. In all cases, if you are first to act, raise or fold, never call. The only time I call is if it was raised to me and i was going to raise but now my hand is sort of disguised since they bet for me, and if I'm playing a loose-aggressive, because I can keep calling to a payday if I hit. I'm sure you guys know most of this, but I'm just rambling...
