i know i know patience. but its getting annoying. for the last three or four days everything i enter im getting crap cards. i end up playing 1 out of maybe 12 hans. no im not stretching things. i played in the ofc tonight, placed just in the money, 90th. but i was only able to play maybe 12 hands in the entire game. thats it. only 2 or three of those were solid hands. Everyone has these periods in their game right? the poker gods have not forsaken me have they? im hoping i put this in the right thread, because im both complaining and asking for advice.

so lets hear it, who else has these stretchs of slumps/

Actually, 1 in 12 hands doesn't sound that bad. That's only a little below the ratio you "should" be playing in order to have a tight game.

The important thing is that playing only one in 12 hands got you to the money. If you had played questionable hands, you might not have made it there. Good job!

Lytspeed is right, if you are playing tight then its a good hand ratio. And if you are a looser player the card shouldnt matter as much because you can play postion. Just keep playing your normal game and if your getting board playing only one in 12 hands try keep yourself busy by practicing your reading skill of opponets hands

Maybe you should think about what is a good starting hand. What is it that you consider worth playing? Do you add hands the later in position you are? Do you call more from the blind if you are up in chips? Do you slowplay any good hands? Do you seem so tight at the table that everyone backs off? Always look for your weaknesses. If you think you are playing very solid and it's just because you really aren't getting any cards then all you can do is wait. If you start to play sloppy or loose just because you want some action you will lose in the long run. Acorn has a really good idea with focusing on other areas of your game to keep yourself occupied. Just by paying more attention when you have a bad run of cards you may add a new dimension to your game that makes you that much more dangerous.

I have to agree with the other guys before my loosing streak about 2 months ago I was in a tourny at a poker club out of 120 people I made it to the bubble on the final table and only played 4 hands, I only had 3 playable hands the whole tourny then I hit QQ I thought for sure I was going to make it past the bubble, I had trips the other guy had trips as well K's I was the bubble and that was my 4th hand.

I try to keep it around 1 hand to every 12 -16 hands if I am not getting any playable hands with in that ratio it is time to move to a different table or quite for the day..

I always hope to play the SB and BB for cheap. If I don't hit something, then I fold. I would guess that I play about 1 hand (to the Turn OR River) every two rounds.

I do not really look at my stats closely. How do you guys actually check your stats?

Most sites that you play on keep track of it for you until you change games or tables. Such as in a HORSE game it will tell you how many flops you saw playing limit hold em but when you switch to Omaha it may reset.

well its not easy being patient....you probably should stick to playing fewer and more premium pre-flop hands......rather than mixing it up and getting to loose....the swings you take from playing like a maniac are for the advanced/rich only....lol.....but playing 1 out of 12 hands is not such a bad thing.......everyone gets unlucky and lucky at times.....its those who can deal with the situations better who tend to be the winning players....as long as you stick to your A game during slumps you'll be alright.....when your hitting, and cards are coming your way.....is when you can afford to make mistakes and take chances..............KP
