| I probably wouldn't have stayed in after the flop, but I think I'm probably a tighter (and more predictable, unfortunately) player than you. Even with 17 outs (I count that, too), you're still only at about 35% or 2 to 1 against. Not knowing what the pot counts were, it's tough to say whether betting 4x BB and 6x BB were good plays with those odds. It's true that you had a lot of outs, but after not seeing a club on the turn and with another player pushing hard, I probably would have folded anyway. Either way, you thought about what you were doing, and you made a stand. That's worth something in itself, because you weren't just letting the cards roll over you.

| Thanks for the reply, made me feel better. You had a good way of putting it as far as saying I took a stand. I never thought of it that way. I just know normally if I have an open-ended straight draw I stay in when maybe I shouldn't because I think I have a good shot at hitting. Then I look at double gutshot which is the same number of outs and try to stay to see. But when I don't hit it makes me feel like maybe I was trying too hard to catch. The stakes were small, .10sb .25bb. So after the flop I had bet .50 and got raised to $1. After the turn cutoff bet $1.50. So at this point I had 17 outs and there was $6.75 in the pot and it was $1.50 to call. So should I look at it as 4-1 with 17 outs so go for it? Or should I look at it as chasing when they probably already have a made hand, chances are good they have 7-8 offsuit since they didn't raise before the flop. Or maybe 3-5/5-6. Overpair? I know everyone goes through the list of what can beat them every hand, sometimes you just have to pay to find out.

| Pretty tough hand you played here. I think you made the right descion at least mathematicly to call on the flop and turn. Although one thing that makes me hesitant about calling on the flop and turn is your overcalling against the SB. So if you put yourself in the SB postion what could he possibly have here? Its very possible for him to have the nut flush draw or an open ended straight draw like you so that reduces your outs to 7 or 9 outs. But again this is a very close decsion and I probaly would have done the same thing as you. Especially after the turn when it would be hard to get away from 4 to 1 pot odds.

| That is a very good point about the SB that I hadn't even considered. I just didn't even think about it like that. He could of easily been holding some of my outs. Thats why it pays to get some feedback. Maybe next time I'm in a hand with multiple callers I will add that into my variables.
