Would you like to "cash" for Fourth Place in a single-table sit-n-go?


The attached .zip file contains three Word documents illustrating
award structures (two current and one proposed) for tournaments at
PokerStars.

Most single-table sit-n-go's have an award "curve" that looks similar
to those for large, multi-table tournaments. There is a steep drop from
First Place to Second Place, and then a less-steep drop from Second
to Third. Fourth Place gets nothing.

18-seat sit-n-go's at PokerStars have a very different award curve.
In fact, it is not a curve at all. Instead, the structure resembles
stair steps.

4th receives 10% of the prize pool.
3rd receives twice as much as 4th.
2nd receives three times as much as 4th.
1st receives four times as much as 4th.


I have sent a proposal to PokerStars support, asking them to offer
at least some 9-seat sit-n-go's with an award curve like the current
18-seat structure.

I, for one, would be happy to receive "only" 40% for every single-table
tournament that I won, since that would also mean getting back almost
all of my buy-in for finishing in Fourth Place.

PokerStars support said they would forward my proposal to their
"idea department."

If you agree with me, please send an e-mail to support@pokerstars.com,
telling them you vote for the adoption of a "40-30-20-10" award
structure for at least some of their single-table sit-n-go's.

Not to bash on your idea or anything but I like the sngs the way that they are. I think that its a good idea to pay the top prize heavily because the idea is to win the tourny not to just move up pay spots.

You do have an interesting idea though and it would denfinitly change how i would play sngs. Goodluck with it

I'm really used to the 50-30-20 structure for 10 person SnGs. And Turbo-charged as well. Anything tournie bigger is not really a SnG IMO. Those 18-20 person games are mini-tournies. I like it when a tournie finishes in less than 30-40 minutes. It's the only thing I like fast (nudge, nudge, wink, wink).
