| NL Holdem .25/.50 blinds. Playing in a home game this game this situation came up. How would you play it? You are holding ATs and raise $2 before the flop. You get two callers, one of which is a maniac. Flop 10 4 8 rainbow. Player to your left bets $1. You raise to $4. Maniac goes all in. ($24 and all your stack.) Player to your left folds. Action is on you. Call or Fold? I want to know what you guys would do? |

| Well I'd say it really depends. You want to try to get a read on the opponent. Obviously the first thing you want to try and figure out is whether or not he/she flopped a set. The player might also have an overpair, like JJ. Most players will tell you with JJ in a cash game you just wanna get in for not too expensive and hope for low cards to hit the board, or a set. 4X big blind raise is standard and if I were holding JJ I would of just called and not re-raise. | If you are a beginner, better use a Calculator. I currently like Pokerpro2006 Calculator - it gives recommendations, does tracking and general analysis. Neat product. Take a look at it Poker Pro Labs |

I could suggest you start analyzing the maniac on any possible tells, or betting patterns; but in my opinion the fact that he is a maniac is all you need to know. I would definitely call. If you play with the guy enough you'll win enough of these situations even if he is packing pocket jacks this particular time. My guess is that he got into a hand he didn't want to at the pre-flop price, such as a low card (like a 4 or an 8) and a face. He hit middle or bottom pair, is frustrated by the fact he's in the hand at all and pushes all in to cease the action. |

| as other poeple said, if i've seen him do the same thing before with top through bottom pair i'd call. however, if for any reason i wasn't sure that he almost always plays crap i'd fold, for 24$ you can sit pretty and wait for the maniac to do the same thing when you flop 2 pair/trips/flush/straight. |
