Fair Poker, 9 handed, 2 cent 4 cent blinds NL I'm big blind and dealt ace king clubs! I have about 4 dollars. I raise to 24 cents, and get 5 callers. Very loose table. flop is j 8 3 all clubs. I flop the nuts! I bet 50 cents into the 2 pot, I am estatic to see 3 callers and then an all in raise for about the same size as my stack. I also move all in and everyone else folds. The other person has also flopped a flush with his queen seven of clubs. However i lose the hand thanks to a 10 of clubs followed by a nine of clubs to give him a straight flush.

Yeah man, that's real harsh, it makes all my bad beats seem like pennies compared to that, but then again, it was only for about $5. Some of my bad beats have cost me money in tournaments for over a couple hundred dollars.

Thats a bad beat!? Wow... I was playing in a home game of no-limit texas hold'em. The buy in was 20 dollars, and almost everyone at the table were fish. I was down to about 15 dollars after seeing kings busted, but this story isn't about my kings getting busted by a runner on the river. This story is about how excited I was to see Pocket Rockets in my hand. I immediately went about protecting my hand, because I was not about to let my aces get busted. I was on the button, and I raised 3 dollars. Both the blinds called and everyone else folded. Flop comes, King 9 5 Rainbow, Aces are still best here. So I raise 5 dollars. The small blind folds, and the big blind (calling station), calls. The Turn comes a 3 of hearts, the board is still a rainbow. The three might give the fish an open ended straight draw, but still nothing that bothers me, have to punish him for it. I raise 7 dollars all in, my opponent calls. We flip the cards over, and he has a 3 of clubs and a 4 of diamonds. River comes another 4... I could not believe it. This guy called 8 dollars with a backdoor straight draw. He called 15 dollars with a pair of 3's, and he goes on to spike a 4 on the river for two pair. Needless to say, I do not see this as a big loss. Though I did have some choice words for him after the hand, I still am happy with the outcome since I know he will play for money with me again and again. Drawing to 5 outs when he has 2 to 1 odds, I will let him make that bet and I will be happy with it... Except the times the LUCKY SOB spikes a card ![]()
